Ten Chimneys time lapse

No. 9 on my Bucket List, here’s a time-lapse video of the Ten Chimneys cottage during the last snowfall.

During the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s, many famous Hollywood and Broadway writers, actors and producers traveled to tiny Genesee Depot for some R&R at the home of Alfred Lunt and Lynne Fontanne, Ten Chimneys. The conversation, camaraderie and therapeutic atmosphere was noted by all. Comedienne Carol Channing said of the place: “What the Vatican is to Catholics, Ten Chimneys is to actors.”

The Ten Chimneys guest book features such illuminaries as Cecil Beaton, S.N. Behrman, David Belasco, George Bugbee, George Burns, Dick Cavett, Carol Channing, Charlie Chaplin, Montgomery Clift, Marc Connelly, Noël Coward, Joan Crawford, Laura Hope Crews, Edna Ferber, Wilfred & Jane de Glehn, Sydney Greenstreet, Uta Hagen, Julie Harris, Katharine Hepburn, Hal Holbrook, George S. Kaufman, Lillie Langtry, Vivien Leigh, Per Lysne, Syrie Maugham, W. Somerset Maugham, Sir Laurence Olivier, Margot Peters, May Nickell Rankin, Hattie Sederholm, Robert E. Sherwood, Booth Tarkington, Laurette Taylor, Ellen Terry, Dick Van Patten, Richard Whorf, Claggett Wilson, Alexander Woollcott
